PUMP OPERATOR TRAINING

IMAGINE THIS…

You’re operating your new 1,500 gpm pump at the scene of a fire with four lines flowing…

150 feet of 1 ¾” interior attack line with 7/8” smooth bore nozzle
250 feet of 1 ¾” interior attack line with a combination nozzle
250 feet of 2 ½” exposure protection line with a combination nozzle
100 ft of 2 ½” exposure protection line with a combination nozzle

Suddenly, another hydrant is tapped and your water supply is cut in half. The throttle is automatically advancing to near full open as your pump governor attempts to
maintain pressure.

NOW, REACT!  The safety of firefighters is at stake.

With our computerized training system, these types of training scenarios are simple and safe.  In a matter of minutes, you will experience real world situations in an energy-packed training environment.

Workshop 1

We teach you to be prepared for the situations you should know, but are never able to set to practice.   You’ll become more familiar with the cause and effect of pump operations when things go wrong.  Four lines, four pressures, safety priorities and real challenges.  This isn’t theory or memorization of friction loss. This is about knowing your pump and honing your skills at the controls.  Our staff is close at hand as we go through this exercise.

Workshop 2

Hang on…this is wild!  Sort of like a fire!  This scenario-based workshop adds a realistic environment with radio traffic and typical fire ground complications.  You have 25 minutes to keep everyone safe and save, or lose the building.

Workshop 3

This will challenge the pump operator to work together with other pump operators in relay and still maintain those four hose line pressures. Challenges are compounded and they will be coming at you fast and furious.

Lynn layout.jpg Simulator 9, built by FD Training Systems Intl., is the heart of our training evolutions. A series of valves, flow meters,  pressure sensors, temperature sensors work with integrated software and computer systems to replicate real fire situations and real world events.
We work with each customer delivering targeted and individualized training.  Pump govorner or relief valve - it doesn’t matter.   We work with department policy and add on to local training academy cirriculum.  100_1222.JPG

BE PREPARED!

Devens 1084.JPGChallenge and prepare pump operators at any skill level: Our system adapts to any skill level,  any experience.  We are effective with the new academy graduate to the 20 year veteran.  Each gets  individualized attention with minimal distraction and no peer  pressure.  Students start at their level and go up.  Our software tracks the entire session so the student gets a visual reinforcement of their training.

ON-SITE Delivery:
Yes, that’s right!  We come to you. If you have power,  2,200 gallons of water and room to park our simulator with a pump beside it, (roughly 750 sq feet)  we’re good to go.  Many of our sessions are held on the apron or in the parking lot of stations.

Cost Effective & Efficient:
Because we come to you, we are significatly more cost effective.  No special training site, no firefighters handling hose lines.  We are the perfect choice for in-service training, too!

Hands on, Hands on, Hands on:
Your apparatus, your department, your operational policy.  Isn’t this where you are going to be when you need these skills?

Green:
We re-use water over and over again often achieveing a total flow of over 100,000 gallons.  Because we come to you, there is less travel time. With our compact and high intensity delivery,  we accomplish more training in a shorter period of time.  We can train all day on less than one tank of fuel.

Our Commitment:
We spend a lot of time training these days,  yet it seems our practical skills as pump operators are ever-more limited.  It is too easy to get caught up in the old “set and forget” mindset.   In each of our careers,  we will likley be confronted with a fire that places lives of firefighters, the public and property in jeopardy. Nowhere is it more important  than pump operators having the skill to support an operation.  We owe that capability to each other.  Solid pump theory training, department policies, working fire pumps and competent operators are essential.  We are proud to be part of that formula.   The people of FDSS and FD Training Systems have a passion for firefighting.   It shows in our philosopy  of…

Enjoy the opportunity, apply the experience.
